SB 1122 – No Need for Background Checks

Senate Bill 1122, proposed by Senator Gail Griffin, prevents areas from mandating a third party or the use of background checks in “private sale, gift, donation or other transfer of personal property,” in this case to prevent the closing of the ‘gun show loophole.’ While legislators are fairly split on the bill, with some voting against because of what they claim to be vague, broad language, and proponents, suggesting it protects the rights for citizens in regards to all personal property. The bill passed and was signed by the governor.

SB 1073 – No License Plate Shenanigans

Senate Bill 1073 is a simple one. It makes the covering of a license plate or using an electronic device or film to obscure the plate illegally. SB 1073 simply works to ensure that license plates are easily used for the purpose they were made.

While SB 1122 doesn’t change anything currently, it does codify the current conditions of a private property sale. If you or someone you know is one of those with a legally dubious license plate then get thee to a DMV quick and make sure everything is on the up and up. The last thing anyone wants to do is break a law without knowing it was a law, to begin with. Now, if you’re looking for legal advice when it comes to any motor accident, you know who to call.
